I have been in the engineering industry most of my working life, I started out as a toolmaker and went on to work for the Central Electricity Generating Board in their Scientific Services Department designing and building prototype machine tools and equipment that would be used in various power stations throughout the UK.

Over the coming years having worked for the various large manufacturing companies. In 1999 I was fortunate to get a job to work with a team at Cooper Standard Automotive in Germany to develop and build a new form of high-speed tube benders. Once these were complete, they would go into to full production for Ford, GM, Mercedes Audi etc.

In 2014 LDEC Ltd was formed. After being contacted by Cooper Standard Automotive in Germany to design a new floor plan and layout, to facilitate 3 new 85-metre-long high volume production lines. While these alterations and modifications to machine tools were being carried out, I made some further recommendations to the company. There were other areas throughout the plant where I thought further improvements could be made to some of the existing machine tools etc. (Example: existing downtime for changeover of one of the main production machines was 5 hours. After our modifications were made and installed the changeover time is 45 minutes). These recommendations and others were taken on board by the company. Hence after 7 years we still have new contracts with Cooper Standard.
